Marie's primary interests are in the active promotion of equality and social justice, in supporting organisations to be effective in bringing about social change and in working with communities who struggle to get their voice heard.

Her experience ranges from academic and policy work to hands-on community development and frequently translating the work of one to the other. Marie’s particular strength is in steering organisations through difficult situations or problems by developing clarity and practical achievable solutions and in motivating organisations to explore different ways of achieving their objectives.

Governments change, their policies and priorities come and go, but our civic society is always there. Organisations in the NGO sector have a crucial role to play in bringing about positive social and political change. Our purpose in the Marie Crawley consultancy is to work with organisations in realising their potential to bring about positive change in their communities and in their social and political environments.

“Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little”

Edmund Burke, Irish statesman and philosopher (1729-1797).
